Earth had become an arid and deserted place. The few humans still alive were scattered around the globe. There was not much to see besides dried out river beds, dead trees, and the like. Destiny had put Mars onto a new course. Every day, the red neighbor came closer ultimately intersecting with Earth's path. It was just a matter of time until the remaining life will be extincted by a collision that could not be larger in scale. One man saw it happening, the day Earth died.
Some of you might remember the old version, Last Witness. It was for quite a few months my most-faved deviation and, at that time, my personal favorite, too. Until a few months, when I decided to redo it, only having the same basic concept in mind: a planet, preferably Mars, crashes into a deserted planet Earth.
I wanted to see how much I have advanced over the last year, combining my current style and knowledge with an old idea. This one is more emphasized on realism, not so stylized. For example, I used an original Mars-image and even put Deimos and Phobos in there.
I hope you like it as much as I do. Enjoy
Facts: the man is my dad; the original photo is over 2 years old original dimensions: 4200x3150px software used: Vue 6, Photoshop hardware used: Canon Powershot A610 time invested: ~10 hours, spread over 2 weeks amount of candies eaten: ~1kg
The work done here is really a wonder to behold. I'm also amused by the last in your list of Facts:" amount of candies eaten: 1kg." And I'm pleased you used a photo of your dad for this. I very much like the realism, it sends shock waves through what is otherwise a 'sci-fi-ish' piece. Well-done!
