Enchanted Forest by BLPH Enchanted Forest by BLPH
Far away, isolated from any civilization, in the depths of the forests, there was a house. Nobody ever dared to visit it due to various accidents that were connected with this forest. People that have tried approaching the house never returned. There seemed to be a curse on the house and its surroundings, leading to the conclusion that the whole forest was bewitched. What was it that radiated this power? This is yet unknown...

Quick side-project. I've always wanted to create a forest scene with some foggy atmosphere and all that, so here we go :D

Props to the guys at #SpaceArt for giving me some tips. Also, the title is taken from Dark Moor's "The Enchanted Forest". Pretty awesome song, if you ask me.

Enjoy :)

Facts:
- software: Vue 7
- render size: 3200x2400
- polygons: 620,017,460
- render time: 4h55'37"

--

Edit (2/27/2010): After getting some feedback on this image, I decided to re-render the scene. So, what's new? We have now some lights in that house as well as some more vegetation on the ground. Depth of Field effect has been implemented, too and some minor edits. All in all, 31h32'30" of render time with 657,500,012 polygons. Remind me of buying a new computer as soon as I have the money.

I personally preferred it without the window light, but the extra ammount of details makes up for it.

I see. Interesting; you're the first one that does not like the window lights ;P

It's not that it matters that much, but the house just looks more creepy with no light. It feels more "dead" that way, like a haunted house. :)

Ah, I get what you mean! Hmmm, I think I'll create a scene with that "feeling of death" as soon as I can :)

The cabin could use a bit work, but you nailed it with the trees! And you think organic things would be harder?

Well, I'm working on an update, primarily focusing on the hut. But yeah, I usually struggle with every organic element, so I'm happy that the trees turned out so well.

very good atmosphere, it actually does look like a moonlight and foggy night, and there's nice variation in the tree's too :) perhaps a small, orange point-light on the other side of that house to suggest some activity might add a stronger mood too, I do that in the same house I used here [link]

ARGH! I faved it, I love it, and I've never noticed that you used this type of house! :iconrageant:

Hmm, but you have a valid point. I think I'll go back and add some glow, preferably from inside the window. Will be fun to do :D
If everything fails, I'll put the light behind the house =P
