This is a little project I had running over the past two weeks while studying for my pre-final exams. Those exams are over now which resulted in a little more time to do the final touches. I'd say: 70% Vue, 30% Photoshop. Setting up the scene took a little over a week (aka. >7 evenings), rendering for 13 hours or so, and a few days postworking. I didn't start from scratch with setting up the scene, though. The basic setup was the final scene of the Creating Asteroid-Rings
-tutorial. From there, I worked on to get this here. Yet, there are a bunch of things changed, as you can see.
Props to `priteeboy
for telling me how to rotate the camera around all axes in Vue and, of course, the guys in the SpaceArt
channel for giving me some tips. If you haven't done so, please do not hesitate to visit it!
Additional points to *kire1987
for pointing out major flaws in this image so that I could fix them in the update. Thanks, bud!

Edit (9 Apr 2010): Some little tweaks here and there. Most importantly, the transition between the rocks at the bottom (which, themselves, have been brightened up subtlely on the left) and the corresponding atmosphere above has been improved. Furthermore, a little change at the impact-place, adding a small flare to it. Hope you like it
Edit (7 Jul 2010): THIS IS MADNESS! THIS IS TEH APOCALYPSE!! THIS IS TEH DD!!!
Thank you so much, ^Voyager212
